Animal Attacks

If you are attacked by animal and injured, the owner or keeper may only be responsible if the owner is acquainted with or ought to have known the animal was likely to attack you.

However, if in an earlier incident the animal has shown any sign of aggression then the owner or keeper or person in control of the animal at the time may be liable to pay compensation for personal injury as a result of a subsequent attack.

For a guard dog, to be active in the owner's premises is permitted only when the controller of the dog is also present on the premises, except when the animal is secured.

But it may only be worth pursuing a claim if the owner can afford to pay compensation, or has insurance.
